Packing Tips
Q. What do I need and where can I get them?
  • For starters, you can gather the items you wish to store to determine the size of the boxes that they will be kept in and the most suitable packaging materials for you.
  • A wide selection of packing materials is available for sale at the reception offices.
  • Feel free to go up to our friendly service staff for assistance.
Q. Why do I need to label my boxes?
  • Labelling your boxes helps you keep track of the inventory within each box.
  • You will in turn be able to find and retrieve them easily when they are needed.
Q. How do I ensure easy retrieval and good ventilation?
  • Leave space around perimeters of the storage unit to boost ventilation.
  • Make room for a walkway at the back of your storage unit and position your frequently used items close to the door for easy access.
Household Items
Q. How do I pack them?
A. For Furniture:
  • Place pallet, corrugated board or mat on floor for sofas and mattresses (These should be standing on end).
  • Disassemble beds and tables; wrap table legs in paper.
  • Place tabletops side down if they cannot be disassembled.
  • Place lightweight chairs stacked ‘seat-to-seat’.
  • Keep upholstery off the floor.
  • Protect furniture with a dust cover. Please do not use plastic wrap, however, as this traps in moist air.
  For Appliances:
  • Refrigerators, freezers and washing machines should be dried thoroughly and stored with doors slightly ajar.
  • All cooking equipment should be cleaned thoroughly.
  • Protect appliances with stretch film.
  For Dishes and Glassware:
  • Tightly and individually bubble-wrap all glassware.
  • Leave no loose space in between or around box.
  • Do not place heavy items on these boxes.
Commercial Items
Q. How do I pack them?
A. For Documents:
  • Pack files, records and documents flat down to protect the spines of the folders.
  • Fill empty spaces in box with packing materials.
  • Do not over load; separate books from files and documents.
  • Do not place boxes directly on floor. Instead, place them on pallets to minimise moisture absorption.
  For Metal Items:
  • Clean all metal equipment with a drop of machine oil to prevent rusting.
  • Protect appliances with stretch film.
  For Electrical Items:
  • Ensure all equipment are clean and dry.
  • Equipment with doors should be kept slightly ajar.
